How to use this calculator
1. Measure your roof
Measure the length and width of your roof in metres. For gable roofs, measure the footprint (plan area).
2. Determine the pitch
Use an angle finder to measure the roof pitch in degrees. Most UK roofs are between 22.5 and 45 degrees.
3. Select roof type
Choose between gable (two slopes), hip (four slopes), or mono-pitch (single slope) roof types.
4. Choose tile type
Select plain tiles (60 tiles/m2), interlocking tiles (~16 tiles/m2), or fibre cement slates based on your roof pitch and style.
5. Calculate materials
Click Calculate to see the exact quantities of tiles, battens, felt and ridge materials needed.
6. Add to project
Save the materials to a project to compare prices from UK suppliers and find the best deals.
