How to use this calculator
1. Measure your wall
Measure the total length and height of the wall you want to build in metres.
2. Choose stud spacing
Select 400mm centres (recommended for most walls) or 600mm centres for lighter loads.
3. Select timber size
Choose CLS timber size - 100x50mm (4x2) for standard walls or 75x50mm (3x2) for thinner partitions.
4. Configure framing options
Select whether to include head plate, sole plate, and noggins (horizontal bracing).
5. Choose plasterboard
Select plasterboard type (standard, fire resistant, moisture resistant, or acoustic) and whether to board both sides.
6. Read off your quantities
Quantities for timber, plasterboard and screws update as you type, alongside a scale drawing of the wall showing every stud, noggin and board.
